About us
Hi, we are Alex, Jan, Lea and Tabea!
In 2016, we quit our jobs in the video games industry, left Hamburg city life behind us and followed our passion for the Harz and mountain biking.
We found our new home in Glückauf-Weg in tranquil St. Andreasberg and with a lot of passion and hard work renovated it to the standard our guests enjoy today. We opened Harz BnB Werkmeister in spring 2017 and Lea then joined us in the summer. Despite her severe disability, she is always in a good mood and ensures that we never get bored 😉 In 2024 we also welcomed little Tabea, and Lea wasn’t the only one who was delighted to have a little sister.
We have always traveled a lot, also with our bikes, and we love good food. With plenty of inspiration in our luggage, we had a pretty clear idea from the outset of what our bed & breakfast for mountain bikers and outdoor sports enthusiasts should be like: uncomplicated, with a delicious breakfast, not like a hotel, more like visiting good friends. Do More Of What Makes You Happy!
We went on our first bike park trip in 2015. Several stops in the Alps and on the way back via the Geißkopf and the Sauerland back to Hamburg. At the bike festival in Willingen, we bought a T-shirt from a small sustainable brand because we thought the slogan “Do More Of What Makes You Happy” summed up our bike park vacation perfectly.
And this phrase was also a constant reminder over the coming months that we ought to change something in our lives and spend more time doing the things that make us happy.
And that’s exactly what we did, jumping in at the deep end with our B&B project in 2016. Since then, DMOWMYH has been our motto and also guides us in our day-to-day decisions.
